Excursion to Shai Hills

Pupils of Mirak Unique Academy embarked on an educational excursion to the Shai Hills Resource Reserve on Friday, 13th February 2026. The trip formed part of the school’s commitment to providing practical learning experiences that complement classroom teaching. Accompanied by their teachers, the pupils set off early in the morning with excitement and curiosity, eager to explore one of Ghana’s well-known пatural reserves.

Upon arrival, the pupils were warmly received by tour guides who led them through various sections of the reserve. They had the opportunity to observe animals such as antelopes, baboons, and a variety of bird species in their natural environment. The pupils also explored the unique landscape of the reserve, including its rocky hills and caves, while learning about the ecological importance of the area and efforts being made to conserve wildlife.

The excursion also exposed pupils to the historical and cultural significance of the Shai Hills area. Guides shared stories about the early inhabitants and how the reserve has evolved over time into a protected national asset. This aspect of the trip helped pupils appreciate not only the natural beauty of the reserve but also its role in Ghana’s heritage and conservation efforts.
